Treatment and Specialized Foster Care
Foster Care services in Illinois are provided in three levels of care. Those levels are Treatment, Specialized and Traditional. Additionally, the State of Illinois recognizes relatives as the first placement of choice when children must be removed from the home of their biological family. Relatives are encouraged to become licensed as foster parents.
Camelot Community Care, Inc. primarily recruits, trains and licenses individuals and couples to provide care, support, guidance, structured environment, safety, nurturance and other services for children exhibiting behaviors that require more intensive monitoring and intervention than can be typically provided in basic out- of-home care settings. Children and youth exhibiting these kinds of behaviors are typically referred for Treatment or Specialized foster care services.
Camelot Foster Parents receive extensive training using the FosterPRIDE model and also receive training specific to the rules, procedures, requirements and clinical components of the Camelot program prior to being approved and recommended for licensure as foster parents. All Camelot Foster Parents also participate in on-going specialized training throughout the period of their licensure and have access to Foster Parent Support Groups.
In addition to children in need of Treatment and Specialized Foster Care services due to behavioral problems, Camelot programs also include Specialized Foster Care for Children with Sexual Behavior Problems and Family Supported Adolescent Care. Foster Parents caring for children in these service categories receive more extensive training, higher reimbursement rates, and are held to a higher service standard.
All Camelot Foster Parents and foster children receive weekly in-home counseling services and regular in-home Case Management services from Camelot staff. Foster Parents are considered an integral part of the therapeutic team and receive continuous support and guidance from Camelot staff.
Camelot offers the following supports to our foster parents:
- Stipend as determined by the type of foster home and level of child in the home
- Paid respite days
- Emergency on-call support
- Participation in a Foster Parent Association
- On-going training
Foster Parents are a valuable member of the Camelot team and represent the most important part of caring for the foster children in our programs.
